Metallurgy in the EU may be on the verge of extinction due to the energy crisis

metallurgical industry in Europe

The metallurgical industry in Europe may disappear amid the energy crisis, the Polish edition of Kresy informs about this.

Representatives of European trade unions wrote a letter describing this problem. They said that metallurgy is the “heart of European industry”, it is indirectly responsible for 2.2 million Europeans. According to them, the climate and energy policy of the EU countries is “out of touch with reality.”

Union members stressed that the industry and its competitiveness are affected by a number of negative factors – high energy prices, the Fit for 55 package, CO2 emission laws.

We add that Fit for55 is a package of measures that are being implemented in Europe with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by the end of the decade.
